This page is for daily tour highlights,
not just for Eagles and Otters which we see on most tours, unless of course
they give us more special views than normal
July 4th God bless
our American friends
Weather sunny, warm, calm – Excellent views,
Mull at its’ best, what a day, 5 Golden Eagles, 5 White Tailed Eagles,
Hen Harrier, 2 separate Otters, Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Common Seal with
pup, Grey Seal and the Black Rabbits. There was also 2 Great skuas, 4 Red
Throated Divers, Kittiwakes, Fulmar, Gannets, Guillemots, Long Tailed Tits
and Tree Creepers in a 61 species day. It was just a brilliant day and
I nearly forgot the morning Goosanders.
July 3rd
Weather warm, sunny and dry with a lot less wind
– Super views of Mull and the small Islands around it today. White Tailed
Eagles everywhere, Golden Eagle interacting with a White Tail and 2 Hen
Harriers, and a Cuckoo being fed by Meadow Pipits were amongst the highlights
on another 50 species day.
July 2nd
Weather warm, windy but dry till 3-30pm then
it bucketed down – another great group today prepared for any kind of weather
and they were rewarded with White tailed Eagle taking a common gull chick
despite the attention of at least 20 adult birds. Otter and cub doing Ottery
things for an hour and a spectacular Red Deer stag. They got on their knees
to smell the beautiful Fragrant Orchid and took lots of photographs of
the splendid Eas Force Waterfall in full flow. We had some laughs as well
on another great day out . 43 species in a shortened day.
July 1st
Weather rained all day - It could have
been a terrible day but our guests were brilliant and enthused over everything
we saw and were rewarded with White Tailed Eagle, Otter, Fallow and Red
Deer and as a result of their patience great Hen Harrier at the end of
the day. When weather is that poor we always go back to our house for lunch
or afternoon tea, this enables everyone can dry off and get warm. This
is no hardship as we get over 20 species of birds in the garden on a daily
basis at the moment including Yellowhammers, Bullfinches and lots of Siskins.
48 species seen on an awful day weatherwise.
June 30th
Cloudy, windy dry until the end of the day -
We take great pleasure is showing our guests the eagles, otter, deer and
seals that we have here on Mull but we often find it’s the small birds
that give us pleasure during our day like the colourful Bullfinch with
his 2 youngsters sitting out on the fence wire or mother House Sparrow
teaching her young how to pick up the seed on the lawn in front of the
kitchen window. A 51 species day
June 29th
Weather overcast but dry till 2pm then showery
for the rest of the day, windy and cold.- A fantastic day with super people,
thanks to the Staniers, the Jarvis family, particularly young Miles spotter
supreme, what a birder you will make, Ian heath and Jo Dale who ran Miles
close as spotter of the day. We had fun saw all Mulls wildlife stars, Otters,
Eagles, Harriers and Deer and lots more because we were all spotting. I
had a great day out because I allow everyone to spot don’t put people down
if they make mistakes and try to encourage beginners to enjoy Britains
great wildlife. Get out and get involved it is a great reliever of stress.
We were glad the heater worked on the way home in a 49 species day.
June 19th to June 23rd we were away for a very
special celebration
Arthurs Mum and Dad celebrate their Diamond
